Cluster: Citizens shaping the city
The project ‘Bravi! La città siamo noi!’ is a large-scale, innovative citizen participation strategy proposed as a pilot project for the city of Torino to forge civic culture through enthusing, engaging and mobilizing responsible citizenship, and introducing a pedagogical agenda within the framework of the city government.
The central premise of our proposal is that anyone and everyone can be an agent of change. In an urban context citizens’ actions on a ground level are fundamental to the overall quality of life and the general image of a city, for this reason we devised a system that provides citizens with a tool that intends to: inspire the public to engage in social change by promoting small voluntary actions; raise public awareness about the power of society; enhance the concept of citizen rights and duties; strengthen human relationships between strangers in the city’s public space.
DH: Intriguing project. I’m not sure if they got the system right, but it will be interesting see how this turns out.
